FOOTPAD STENCIL
Applique method:
Use
a silver or gold pen to trace around the stencil shape onto dark felt or
ultrasuede. Cut the shapes out. Place the dark shapes on a lighter
coloured felt or ultrasuede. Applique foreground shapes to background
shape.
Shading method: Step 1
Place
the stencil on a light coloured felt or ultrasuede. Use a permanent
marking pen such as Copic or TriArt (or fabric paint if you wish), and,
holding the stencil securely so it doesn't shift, shade the outer edges
of the shape, using the finer nib of the pen.
Shading method: Step 2
Use
the thicker nib of the pen to fill in the larger areas with colour.
Shading method: Step 3
You
can also use several tones of one colour (light, medium, dark) to
enhance the effect and of course, use a Blender Pen to blend the colours
together, thus avoiding any harsh lines where colours meet. Remember to
test the colours on the felt or ultrasuede first to ensure they're what
you want.
NOSE STENCIL
Direct Application: Step 1
Merely
place the selected stencil nose shape over the snout of the bear (after
head has been filled).
Direct Application: Step 2
With
a fine nibbed marker, trace the shape directly onto the bear's snout.
Use perle cotton embroidery thread and fill in the shape with a satin
stitch.
Applique method
Use
the same method as for the footpads in above example. Take the cut out
shape and glue (only a little!,) or slip stitch, onto the snout of the
bear. Once glue is dry or shape stitched securely, satin stitch the nose
using a perle cotton embroidery thread in colour to match felt or
ultrasuede used.
